Computer integrated manufacturing

The main components of a computer integrated manufacturing system are marketing, product design, planning, purchase, manufacturing engineering, factory automation hardware, warehousing,  finance and information management.  The first component marketing division identifies the product requirement. The product design department designs the database required for the product. This database gets enriched by the planning division. Purchase orders, follow-ups, receiving the items, inspection of the product, quality assessment of the products, distribution to retail stores etc. are carried out by purchase division.  Manufacturing engineering department analyses the database and product performance and then suggests positive modifications. For the modification, factory automation hardware is used. Warehousing is the function involving storage and retrieval of raw materials, components, finished goods as well as shipment of items.  Finance division deals with money related matters. Production scheduling, database management, communication, integration etc. are handled by information management division.
